Our co-operative gives you easy access to a full range of wines from independent producers in our small, but wonderful, region.

The Otway Wine Co-operative

A classic cool climate in a natural environment just minutes from The Great Ocean Road. The Otway wine sub-region is a growing source of premium wine with true regional character.

Inspired by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to promote our wine, and our amazing region, as a collective to make buying our wine easier than ever before.

We work independently, but when it comes to growing and making our wines, we share a passion for our region, and our very special cool climate wines, and for sharing that passion with other wine lovers.

We invite you to learn to love The Otways, and our wine, as much as we do; knowing that every dollar you spend helps local family businesses to make their community a better place.

Our co-op gives you a dedicated wine store that makes it possible to buy a wide selection of wines of The Otways. You can mix and match any combination of wines from all of our producers, with a special emphasis on fast, reliable, and cost effective delivery, especially within our local region.

Realising the air's purity, abundant sunshine, reliable rainfall, and generous soils would make for ideal conditions, Dinny's products have gone on to win international acclaim with elegant, perfectly balanced Chardonnay, Riesling, Shiraz, and more.

“Heroes” Vineyard

Originally from a wine-producing family in the UK, James came to Australia on a surf trip and never went home, making wine for a number of wineries in the Geelong region. Obsessed with the Otway’s terroir, he and his family relocated to the region to establish the “Heroes” Vineyard label (named after the David Bowie song). The consistent natural rainfall of the Otways allows James to grow grapes without the need for irrigation, using only organic practices. "Heroes" wines are made 'in the vineyard' with minimal intervention and using only organic practices.

Blakes Estate

As a young geologist Roger was involved in geological mapping of the Otways. This intimate knowledge of the rocks, soils and cool climate of the region led inevitably to Pinot Noir when it came to a choice of grape varieties, first planted in 1994. Blakes Estate is known for making a "Burgundy style" Pinot Noir and a "Champagne style" sparkling wine.

It starts with hand-pruning and picking in the vineyard, hand plunging in open fermenters, an oak basket press for pressing the wine, then racking between barrels for clarification instead of filtration. Wine is cellared in fine French oak barrels for up to a year before bottling. The wine is not released until at least two years after vintage. Every effort is made to ensure each step in the process stays as close as possible to the original French methods to create a style of wine that perfectly matches the natural terroir of the region.
